The coaching staff of PSC Stingrays make it a point to assure that our swimmers get quality swims (two individual events) when they come to a meet.  As our team grows, it becomes more difficult to get all the children in quality events when you bring a whole squad to a meet.  There are sometimes just not enough unofficial events to ensure this quality.

Our team takes its larger age groups and splits them into three groups, an “A” group (Red) and two “B” competition groups (Yellow and Blue) for visiting meets.  When we go to a swim meet this summer, we will bring 2/3 of the team to visiting competitions.  For example, one meet will have Red and Yellow. The next will have Red and Blue.  Once the three rosters are set, time standards for the yellow team will be announced.  If a swimmer breaks any one of the time standards during a LBSL competition for his or her age group, they will automatically be moved to the “A” squad.  The coaching staff will confirm notification of this move.  Note: if you would like to be paired with a family for car pooling purposes, you need to let me know in advance via an email or note.  I will honor those request as long as the swimmers are of the same squad level ( Both A or Both B).

I want to assure you that I will be the head coach of the PSC Stingrays.  At practice, we will train as PSC Stingrays.  Our talks and instruction will be geared towards everyone.  If we talk about an upcoming meet, the coaches and I will discuss meets with everyone. The whole team will share any success as a team.  Lastly, we will not divide the practice lanes assignments by Yellow, Red, and Blue.  When we train, everyone will be viewed as a PSC Stingray and the lanes, practices, and instruction will be set according to swimming abilities levels, not squads.

Invitational meets (excluding the Relay Carnival and Aqua Pentathlon that use a time standard) will be open to everyone and are strongly encouraged.  As always, instruction and learning is one of the goals during competitions and these meets will provide extra experience and opportunity for the Black and White squads to improve their skills and times.

The selection of these teams will be done on time trail performance.  It is very important that all swimmers attend Time Trials.  To ensure fairness, previous or winter times will not be applicable except in the 18 under age group which is excluded from time trials.  After time trials are completed, the list of the squads will be emailed.

We wish all swimmers the very best and look forward to all Stingrays having successful, educational, and fun season.  Go Stingrays!

Sincerely,

Coach Kelly
